Policy Statement
POIETO does not post photographs, video, or identifying information about program participants to social media or any public channel without explicit, specific, documented consent. This applies to POIETO's own accounts and to staff personal accounts when posting in a POIETO context.
Three-Level Consent Framework
Consent is specific to what is captured and how it is used. Agreeing to one level does not imply consent to a higher level.
Age Requirements
| Age Group | Requirements |
|---|---|
| 18 and over | May give their own consent at any level. |
| Under 18 | Parent or guardian must provide written consent for Level 2 or Level 3. The participant must also verbally confirm they are comfortable. Written guardian consent is obtained at program enrollment. |
| Under 13 | Parent or guardian must provide written consent for any photography. The participant must also give verbal assent. Under-13 participants are not posted to social media under any circumstances without explicit guardian consent and program leadership approval (Christine Meinders, Founder). |
POIETO Social Media Accounts
Only designated POIETO personnel may post to POIETO's official social media accounts. Before posting any image or video involving a participant, complete this checklist:
- Confirm the participant's consent level on record
- Confirm the content is within the consented level
- If participant is under 18: confirm guardian consent is on file
- Do not post if there is any uncertainty — ask the Designated Coordinator first
Staff Personal Accounts
Staff may share that they work at POIETO and describe their role generally.
Staff may NOT:
- Post photographs of participants from personal accounts without going through the same consent verification as Section 4
- Identify any participant by name in any public forum
- Share participant work or stories without explicit consent
- Post anything that could identify the program site in a way that compromises participant safety
Photography During Sessions
All in-session photography uses POIETO-designated equipment. Staff personal devices are not used for participant photography — see the Cell Phone & Personal Device Policy (CPD-02).
Violations
Posting identifiable images of a participant without documented consent — on POIETO accounts or personal accounts — is a serious policy violation.
