Why this exists
The computers and the chat are tools for the work — the project and the program we’re building together. We use them the same way we treat each other in the room: openly, with care, and with everyone’s name kept safe. This policy grows from our values.
What's Already Set
The part that keeps everyone safe
These aren't up for a vote - they're how the chat stays simple and protected. Everything in the next section is ours to write.
On-site onlyThe chat lives on the program computers, during session. No program chat or digital messaging happens outside of sessions.
Anonymous by stationYou go by your station color - no personal accounts, no real names, yours or anyone else's.
Project + business onlyThe chat is for the work: questions about the project and the program. That’s what it’s there for.
Stays out of your fileNothing from the chat goes into any file about you. It isn't tied to you as a person.
Staff in the room - no off-site monitoringPOIETO staff are present during sessions. No one watches the chat from off-site, ever.

What We Decide Together
This part is ours
We write this from our values and agreements - the same way we built everything else. Fill it in as a group. It saves on this computer as you type.
How we talk to each other here
What does respect look like in a chat where no one has a name?
What belongs in the chat
The kinds of things worth posting for the group.
What doesn't belong
What we agree to keep out, so the chat stays useful and safe.
If something feels off
What anyone can do if a message crosses a line.
From Our Values, Into the Chat
Turn a value into a habit
Take a value we named and make it one thing we do in the chat. Name the value, then what it looks like here.
Our valueSo in the chat we...
Before we start
The group says yes - out loud, together
We turn the chat on only after the group opts in, and we note that on the sign-in sheet. Passing is always fine. A yes isn't forever - you can change your mind.
Miss a session? We'll post a recap and the action items so you're caught up. Anything you share beyond that is your call - peer to peer.
